Push-ups... plantarflexed ankles? (Posted by Cam)

Regarding your question... it sounds painful and it also makes the pushup less difficult than if you were on your toes. (unless you put your toes on an elevated surface, like a staircase)

I don't think it's a great idea to combine stretches with strengthening (especially when the stretch is not being done with a controlled force, you're stretching with your body weight here which depending on who you are, that may be more than your joints are ready for.) PNF and dynamic stretches are the way to go, even though you're moving during that pushup it's basically a static stretch.

That said, regarding swimming and ankle stretching, here's a link to the 3rd installment of a 3 part session about exercises about the ankle/swimmer relationship. Hope it helps.

For Sprinter. high intensity with low volume training..? (Posted by se min lim)

thesedays im trying to break my PB(personal best) record. it's 27.6...something.

this is my PB in my life time. thesedays i spent do weight lifting to build my strength and body

for swimming power. i spent most time to work out weight lifting.

and after this im trying to spent swimming more than weight lifting.

but i'm thinking what is proper training for 50M sprinters.

i was searching on the internet about sprinters and it tells high intersity and high volume training

is not the best way to develope their speed for sprinters.

so i wonder that is true then should i training high intensity with low volume training?

yesterday i practice sprint.

with nice warm up for 500M

50M X 5 all out max effort. and i get 28" 29" 30" 30" 30"

25M X 2 all out max effort. and i get 12"60, 13"00

i practice with enough rest between set. it was very tough for me

i couldn't keep continue cuz my arm muscle couldn't move at all.

if anyone have been this kind of problem would give me some advice for training?

so i would like to training 4 times a week if i train on Mon rest Tue and train Wed rest Thu

like this pattern but when i train i would like to train very high intensity training.

Mon - warm up with stroke drill and

focus on develope strength with paddle and kick high intensity and low volume training

Tue - weight lifting

Wed - warm up with stroke drill and

focus on break race pace time. short dis. high intensity and low volume training

Thu - weight lifting

Fri - warm up with stroke drill and

focus on develope strength with paddle and kick high intensity and low volume training

Sat - weight lifting

Sun - take rest

how about this pattern of the training?? anyone could help for training plz.

Push-ups... plantarflexed ankles? (Posted by visje)

Just was messing around doing push ups and thought these might be a good idea.

Instead of traditionally having the feet in a fairly neutral position, I decided to completely plantarflex my ankles and rest on my toes that way. Essentially doing push-ups on straight flutter kick type legs, balanced on whatever toe surface you have left.

My intention was to try and kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak, stretch the ankles, work the arms, and besides, it's probably a position more resembling swimming freestyle than more traditional push-ups

I didn't google extensively yet but surely I mustn't be the first to have tried this. I found I was feeling more in my quads extensors and a little bit more in the abs and was none worse to wear after.

What do you guys think? Tried before? Known to be dangerous ?
