For strength training for sprinting you want to focus more on strength and power - so heavier weight with less reps and olympic/power lifts, plyometrics and medicine ball training. If you've lost your "sprint shape" then make sure you are sprinting. Short distances at high speeds with enough rest to allow you to sprint. You can also practice your turns like this.

why do swimmers need to use weight training for swimming...

would just being flexible/not musclebound...u don't see fish with muscles..haha..
move you faster through the water..

Fish have muscles colm. When you eat fish what do you think you are eating?

Muscle is necessary for body movement. You can't move without it. The stronger the muscle is the faster you will move. Weight lifting can help make you stronger. If you complete your exercises through a full range of motion, stay swimming, and stretch then you won't become "musclebound".

If you see people in the weight room who aren't flexible, then it is because they don't do any of the things I listed above, not because they are lifting weights.
