I wondered if any coaches out there taper their breaststrokers differently than their other swimmers. I am most concerned about maintaining leg/kick endurance during a taper. Usually our sprinters ease up on kick sets signifuicantly during a taper. During the season I have my breaststrokers bike for about 30 minutes 2-3 times a week and kick an average of 1,000 yards a day. I have thought about maintaining the bike (less intense) and easing up on the kick during the taper. Any thoughts? |

It should be different, and it should also be based on the distance. You can't taper a 200m breaststroker the same way as a 100m breaststroker. Usually we do lots of kick, a few sprints, lots of tech work and rp work. |
