stretch, eat banana's, massage, sleep but don't miss practice unless you really can't swim.

haha are you serious? no days off?

Isn't it great when a workout makes you sore! ...Progress.

For me, it usually goes away after awhile but the first couple of laps take the most effort.

Well Toni...just be SURE it is soreness and not injury.

Paul, you beat me to it. Congrats.

Gotta be careful with the shoulders. plenty of potential for injury if ya get them too broken down.

Other than that, muscle soreness the day after is called delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Generally accepted that it is a neurological response to sort of get you to not hurt your body again until it can heal.

I believe it was Arnold Schwarzenegger who believed he was getting the most from his workouts when he was able to get DOMS after his workouts. If he didn't get DOMS then he didn't work hard enough!

ok I am having sharp pain in my right knee now. It happens sometimes when I pushoff too hard. And I really feel the pain when I am on my back doing back dolphin kicks. help. I can still swim freestyle normally but the pushoff sometimes hurts. help help
