What type of kick do you use on freestyle?  2-3-4 or 6 beat kick?

Depends.
Up to 100 mts. I use the 6 beat kick.
Up to 400 mts. I use the 4 beat kick.
Over 400 mts. I really don't know but I'd say itis a 3 beat kick.

2 or 6-beat. I cannot comprehend a 4 pattern.

I use both no-kick and dolphin kick free drills.

50/100M 6-beat (my coach would disagree, but then I have trouble counting to six)

anything greater either a 2-beat or a Hackett-esque 4-beat (3 - 1)

2-1 beat in practice and 4 beat in a race

Switching through the "Three Style of Freestyle", I use all of them and even try to work on some 10 beat kick.
